Reunion 2007

I would like to thank everyone who worked on the planning and putting the reunion together for a wonderful week-end.  It took a lot of time and effort and I can say you really pulled it off.  It was great to see everyone and hear what was happening with them.  And for all the guys that came from out of town, you are real "Vikings", corny I know but I had to say it.

Again thank you for a great party!!  Now who is going to start on the next one?

Mr. Ruggles

Remember Glen Ruggles?

I just talked to him on Wed. He lives in Elk Rapids, same place we have a cottage...18 miles from Traverse City

He's written a book on the history of Elk Rapids.  It's very interesting and has lot's of picture's in case you don't want to read!!

He say's Hi to all and wishes he could be at the reunion.

By the way he looks great!

Poem by Mike Kirby

I look in the mirror, I straighten my tie, I try to comb what’s left of my hair

Tonight I’m gonna see some old friends from school, I wonder who’s gonna be there

A little more color to cover the gray, I want to look the best I can be

I guess I’m just a little bit worried, will everyone look better than me

Now here comes a face I haven’t seen for awhile, amazing how she still looks the same

And as she’s getting closer she’s starting to smile, I wish I could remember her name

She gives me a hug, asks how have I been, I tell her I’ve been fine how about you

I look down at the name, it’s pinned on her dress, I say it’s been a long time Sue

Here at our class reunion we’re really not as old as we seem

Here at our class reunion tonight we’ll all be seventeen

Here at our class reunion we’re gonna take a trip back in time

When we were bold, we were fine, we were the class of 69

And all of the ladies gather as one, showing their pictures of daughters and sons

The guy all tell stories recalling the years and the stories get better with every beer

Now I see a face, he’s there at the bar, he used to live a few houses down

I hear that he’s divorced and selling used cars, living in some far away town

He talks with a woman who still looks so good, she used to be the homecoming queen

And there was a time when every guy wanted just to be her king

And out on the dance floor the greasers and frats, there’re doing the hustle as one

But all of these old folks don’t look quite as cool, as when they were limber and young

The party is over, the dee jay is done, we mingle as we’re leaving the hall

We must stay in touch I hear someone say, but tomorrow I’ll forget who to call

I look in the mirror, I take off my tie, no need to run a comb through my hair

Tonight I got to see some old friends from school, everyone seemed to be there

I wash out the color that covered the gray, I smile at the reflection I see

I guess I’m just a little bit happy, cause everyone looked older than me

There at our class reunion, we really weren’t as old as we seemed

There at our class reunion, tonight we all were seventeen

There at our class reunion, we took a little trip back in time

When we were bold, we were fine, we were the class of 69

Going to the "Pines" to make out during the football games.

Guys wore tight pants.

Pizzaburgers

Skipping and going to Shef's

Joe Dabbs hair.

Being with Swi and Moon in the old Falcon and ending up on a golf course in Royal Oak.

Tom Johnson and Rande Nuekam got busted at a grasser.

Sneaking the guys into the drive-in in the trunk of their car.

The "My Guys" playing at the dances after football games.

The Battle of the Bands.

Mike Karner and the "Milk Truck"

Billy Welsh's Green Ford Fairlane Convertible

When Jenny Morris ran into a speaker at the Commerce Drive-In, scratched that green convertible and Billy was in the trunk.

Cruising the Big Boy in Walled Lake

Cruising Woodward and Ted's

When '67 stole our cans and they won the can drive.

We had a dress code, no jeans and the girls wore skirts or dresses.

We paid to wear shorts for Bermuda Day.

Dancing at the Walled Lake Casino with" Lee Allan and the Horn".

Hiding our booze in Bloomer Park and then getting it before we went to the drive-in.

How did you "guys" come up with "JudeRest"????
